30 | THELAKER 50th Anniversary of Logging Sports More than 70 former members of the logging sports (formerly woodsmen) team gathered at the main campus in April for a reunion and to root on the current team at the final home meet of the regular season. The current women's team took first place against Paul Smith's and SUNY Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF). Three alumni teams also competed, with FLCC Alumni Team 1 taking second place in the open division. Reunion attendees celebrated afterward at Star Cider, adjacent to the competition grounds on the west side of campus.  President Robert Nye recognizes the two head coaches of the logging sports team over its 50 years: Marty Dodge, right, who served from the team’s inception in 1974 to 2011, and his successor and current coach, Ryan Staychock ’96.  Cathy Dzierba ’77, left, and Kathy Bullis ’84 look over the chapter about the FLCC logging sports team in the College’s 50th anniversary book at a reunion marking the team’s 50th anniversary in April.
