theLAKER | 23 FOUNDATION BOARD WELCOMES FOUR NEW MEMBERS Kimberly Sorel Kimberly Sorel is vice president and branch manager of the Lakeshore Community Bank Office at Canandaigua National Bank & Trust. Kimberly began her career in 2006 and has grown from teller, financial services representative, and assistant manager to manager of CNB’s busiest transactional bank office. She is responsible for ensuring an exceptional customer experience by the Lakeshore team, building and retaining relationships with individuals and businesses, and origination of consumer and business loans. She is a member of the Canandaigua Rotary Club and a past board member. She was awarded the ATHENA Young Professional Award in 2016 and nominated for the Arthur S. Hamlin Award in 2020. Debbie Pontera Debbie Pontera is managing partner and chief operating officer at D2 Media LLC. She has worked as a director at Clear Channel Radio, a director at Spectrum/Time Warner, a regional vice president at Spectrum, and a chief operating officer at DP SMART Media LCC. Debbie has served on the board of directors at the Canandaigua Country Club since 2014 and as the club’s president since 2018. She served as an advisory board member for Make-A-Wish of Western New York and a volunteer fundraiser for United Way. She attended SUNY Oneonta and graduated from Empire State College in 1993 and Harvard Business School Executive Education in 2017. David Mack David Mack has spent 33 years in the news media in upstate New York and 17 years in not-for-profit health insurance. Dave started in 1963 as a copy boy for the Sun-Bulletin in Binghamton, rising to vice president of Gannett’s East Newspaper Region in 1986. He served as president and publisher of the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle from 1990 to 1997. He then switched careers, serving as senior vice president for corporate relations for Lifetime Healthcare Companies from 1997 until retirement in 2013. His volunteer service includes time as chair of the Monroe Community College Foundation, the United Way of New York State, the University of Rochester Trustees Council, and the WXXI Public Broadcasting Council. Renee Thomas Renee Thomas is a retired pharmacist with over 38 years of experience. She attended Western Virginia Wesleyan College and furthered her education at West Virginia University Pharmacy School, graduating in 1981. After graduation, she got her start working for a Rite Aid Pharmacy in Liberty, N.Y. In 1985, she accepted a position at Clifton Springs Hospital and Clinic. Renee later worked for Geneva General Hospital, and recently retired from Thompson Hospital after 25 years. Renee enjoys skiing, biking, walking and reading, and is a fan of West Virginia basketball and New York Mets baseball. She is a member and vice president of the Canandaigua Scientific Association.
