16 | theLAKER president’s report to the community ABOUT THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES ABOUT THE FLCC FOUNDATION Spring giving event: A smashing success A 10-member board of trustees, including a voting student representative, governs the College according to established bylaws. Five members are appointed by the Ontario County Board of Supervisors for seven-year terms, and four by the governor for seven-year terms. Students vote annually for their representative. Key responsibilities of the board are to appoint a president, approve curricula, approve the annual budget, establish tuition and fees, and approve sites for facilities. The College works hand-in-hand with the nonprofit FLCC Foundation, founded in 1969, to foster partnerships that build on the College mission. The Foundation raises private sector support for scholarships, capital projects, emergency funds and programming needs. May 5 was the fourth annual Laker Day of Giving and the most successful one yet, smashing the donor goal of 170 with 259 participants contributing over $38,909. Donations were designated primarily to funds and scholarships that impact students directly, allowing them to focus on what matters most – their education. Here is the breakdown: $11,545 for scholarships $13,590 for athletics $13,774 for other initiatives BOARD OF TRUSTEES 2023-24 M. Joan Geise, B.A., M.A. (Chair) Donald Cass, B.S.
