Jamel Rizek ’22 (EMT-Paramedic) transferred to Eastern Kentucky University following graduation, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in EMS administration. He now works as a paramedic in his community and serves as assistant manager of annual health assessment programs at Upstate Medical University. He credits his FLCC education with opening the door to opportunities and experiences that shaped his career. Grace Boesel ’23 (Business Administration) transferred to the Saunders College of Business at Rochester Institute of Technology following graduation. She now works as a marketing specialist at Wilmac Technologies in Rochester, managing a range of B2B marketing efforts. Shena Edington-Bright ’24 (Business Administration) was among the presenters at the FLX AI Hub workshop on AI for Marketing and Communications on the main campus in March. She is an intake specialist for Simco, which provides human resources, payroll and benefit services. Mackenzie Ferris ’25 (Natural Resource Conservation) earned her New York State EMT certification and began her first position as an EMT with AMR Rochester in late February. Lindsay Votypka ’25 (Humanities) moved to Arizona in July 2025 and is studying English literature at Arizona State University, with minors in art history and Chinese language. She maintains a 4.0 GPA and is a candidate for an accelerated master’s degree. In addition to her studies, she works in bird of prey rescue and rehabilitation, conducts water drops in the desert for migrants, and tutors children in reading skills. She also recently rescued a second cat, Krobus. Anna Bright ’18 (Business Administration) began working at the College in August 2025 as office manager in the Disability Services Office. She is excited to be back on campus and support students in her new role. She will marry her fiancé, Austin, in August and looks forward to celebrating with family and friends. Allison Kinnear ’19 (Liberal Arts and Sciences) completed her bachelor’s degree in biology and went on to attend pharmacy school. This past summer, she passed her board exams and is now a licensed pharmacist. Christopher Yarnall ’19 (Viticulture and Wine Technology) moved back to New York and started a new position as the director of grants development at FLCC in January. He is excited to serve an institution that has been instrumental to his own academic journey. the ’20s Aaron Parsons ’20 (Business Administration) has earned multiple promotions over five years at Canandaigua National Bank, where he is currently an operation specialist. He works with all CNB teams, including consumer and commercial banking, and has taken part in the bank’s community activities, such as a walk to raise funds for autism and the JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge road race. He and his fiancée, Meaghan Nash, will get married in October. 24 | theLAKER In Memoriam Professor Emeritus Robert O. Kalbach passed away on Dec. 19, 2025, at age 72. Bob earned a doctorate in chemistry from the University of South Florida and taught at FLCC for 23 years. During that time, he undertook the complete revision of the general and organic chemistry curricula to align with SUNY guidelines. Bob forged and sustained relationships with nursing, honors, allied health, conservation, early childhood education and social sciences, and he ensured that the courses he created met the needs of students in every program. He was very involved in the renovation of the chemistry labs and frequently visited other area colleges to gain insight.
