the LAKER | 29 parting shot First day home With help from FLCC mascot Flick, Assistant Director of Student Life Andrea Brown handed out welcome gifts to students returning to the main campus for the first day of the fall semester on Aug. 31. It was a different first day than faculty and staff are accustomed to: The parking lot wasn’t quite full, the Book Nook, closed, as operations continue online, and the cafeteria, quiet. Fewer bodies and social distancing did not dampen the mood, however. Lakers were happy to be back home.
