BIRTHS Dan Dixon ’00 and his wife, Natalie Masco-Dixon, celebrated the birth of their daughter, Ana Jean, on March 20. Dan is employed as a deskside support analyst at Biotel Research. Hana Cheasman ’17 (Communications) is a video editor at CGI Communications in Rochester, which she first visited during a company tour on FLCC Activities Day in 2017. Jodi Heavner-Ortiz ’17 (Registered Nursing) was named nurse manager of Unit 1 at Geneva Living Center South in the transitional care program at Finger Lakes Health. Erika Mendoza Rivera ’17 (Liberal Arts and Sciences) earned a bachelor of arts in human development at SUNY Oswego. She works as a bilingual family support specialist for Wayne County Action Program/ Healthy Families. Leslie Parmele ’17 (Tourism Management) is on the board of directors at the Historic Palmyra Museum, after starting out as an intern as part of her degree for the travel and tourism program. Shaina Babcock ’18 (Natural Resources Conservation) graduated from Slippery Rock University in December of 2019 with a bachelor of science degree in parks and resource management. She recently competed her first semester of the master’s program at Slippery Rock University. Bryon Campbell ’18 (Liberal Arts and Sciences) plans to finish his bachelor’s degree at Rochester Institute of Technology, and then continue onto medical school at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. Caitlin Fox ’18 (Therapeutic Massage/ Integrated Health Care) is a licensed massage therapist and certified massage cupping practitioner. She opened a massage therapy practice in downtown Canandaigua. Gina Gugliuzza ’18 (Horticulture) graduated from Empire State College in May with a bachelor of science degree in biology. Benjamin Knowlton ’18 (Environmental Science) is working on finishing his bachelor’s degree at SUNY Environmental Science and Forestry while working for a tree removal company in Bloomfield. William Maskrey ’18 (Business Administration) is currently a student in St. John Fisher’s School of Business and was a recipient of a 2020 RACCE Outstanding Adult Student Award. This award recognizes students who successfully balance academic excellence, service to the community, and the many competing responsibilities and obligations of adult life. Owen Palzer ’18 (Computer Science/Game Programming and Design) is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in game design and development at Rochester Institute of Technology and recently completed a software engineering co-op at EagleDream Technologies. Edward M. Guinan on May 7, 2020 In 1965 Mr. Guinan was a member of the Ontario County Board of Supervisors and cast a vote in favor of establishing the Community College of the Finger Lakes. He was honored at a Founder’s Day event in 2015 in celebration of the 50th anniversary of that historic vote. Gail J. Lafler ’89 on Dec. 29, 2019 Ms. Lafler was an adjunct instructor of humanities at FLCC. Patrick W. McCarthy on Aug. 25, 2020 Chief McCarthy was a criminal justice professor at FLCC from 1982 to 2010. Sharon Wilber on May 28, 2020 Sharon Wilber taught developmental studies at FLCC. Thomas Zimmerman on Jan. 22, 2020 Mr. Zimmerman served on the FLCC Foundation Board of Directors and was a member of the advisory board for the architectural technology and building sciences program.
