opening shot On Friday, March 6, hundreds of winemakers and friends of FLCC came together for the annual Vintners & Valentines fundraiser centered on a gourmet meal prepared by culinary arts students paired with wines hand-selected by over two dozen Finger Lakes wineries. Within days, the COVID-19 shutdown began, first colleges and schools, then all but essential businesses. “Vintners & Valentines has grown into a great event and for many of us in attendance, it was a last big night out before everything changed and shut down,” said emcee Eric Frarey ’84, managing partner and chief operating officer of Heron Hill Winery. “By then, we’d heard about coronavirus but I don’t think any of us quite knew what to expect of what was to come just a few weeks later. Although much has changed, I’m thankful for that night, to have been surrounded by such a generous group of FLCC friends who came together for a great cause.” In photo, Glenn Everdyke talks with guests about Billsboro Winery. High resolution photos from the event are available for free download on the college’s Flickr page.
