Many have lost jobs. In September, Jack Moran ’79 was just getting back to work reopening his Roseland Bowl Family Fun Center near FLCC’s main campus. On March 16, like many fellow small business owners, he got shut down orders. “It was sad – we had to inform our leagues we were closing,” he said. It was tougher for the staff of 36. Jack considers himself fortunate to have been able to take advantage of a payroll protection program through early spring, but that expired and his employees had to go on unemployment. “I’ve taken care of their health care plans through this,” he said. Awaiting news from Albany, Jack spent much of the spring and early summer coming up with safety plans. Finally, in August, Roseland was given the green light to reopen with reduced density and limited offerings. “Our customers have been very good about social distancing, sanitizing and wearing face coverings,” Jack said. “They’ve been appreciative of the steps we’ve taken to keep them safe.” How has the pandemic affected your profession?
