As the College adjusted to the pandemic environment, the Visual and Performing Arts Department resumed live performances in fall 2021, starting with the Fall Faculty Recital in late October. Alumnus Leo Medler ’06, at right on guitar, joined Geoff Smith, professor of music, and Philip Lake, an adjunct for percussion courses, for some jazz standards. Leo taught courses in Jazz Guitar and Jazz Ensemble as an adjunct instructor from fall 2010 to fall 2016 before spending a few years in the Midwest. “I taught guitar from 2017 to 2019 in Columbus, Ohio, and Milwaukee, Wisc., before returning home to the Finger Lakes to settle down,” he said. “I am lucky enough to be back teaching music at the College since the fall 2020 semester.” photo by rikki van camp opening shot
