the LAKER | 31 Carole Joan Taylor (Lynch) ’87 passed away on Aug. 30, 2020. She was born in Brooklyn and started working at age 16 in the New York Stock Exchange, quickly rising to executive secretary. In 1957, she married James Z. Taylor M.D. and moved to Philadelphia, where she became an executive secretary to the vice president at DeHaven, Townsend, Crouter and Bodine Brokerage House. After helping put her husband through medical school, Carole moved seamlessly into Navy life, where she was instrumental in starting the first daycare for military personnel at Lakehurst Naval Air Station in New Jersey and started raising her family. After completing her degree in humanities at CCFL in 1987, she became a fierce advocate for children with special needs. Her love for Cape Cod was immense, and it is there that she and her husband settled into a joyful retirement. Linda Ochs ’94 passed away March 1, 2019 at age 65. Linda was born July 20, 1955. She is a graduate of Finger Lakes Community College and Empire State College. She is a former employee of the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington, D.C., and the Waterloo School District. A dedicated advocate for the environment, Linda was continually involved with many environmental and community groups throughout her life. Her work led to a Distinguished Alumni Award in 2001. Cindy L. Mullin (Madsen) ’89 passed away on Oct. 17, 2020 at age 60. Cindy graduated from Palmyra Macedon Central. She had a passion for helping others and was a constant model of kindness, generosity, selflessness, and patience. One of the many ways she did that best was by serving as a registered nurse for many years and teaching her daughters to do the same. She first become an LPN, graduating from BOCES in 1978 and then went on to obtain her registered nursing degree from CCFL. David C. Milburn ’99 passed away on May 9, 2021 at age 44. He was born on April 24, 1977 in Rochester and earned an associate degree in criminal justice from FLCC. He worked with the U.S. Border Patrol for 21 years, becoming a supervising agent. On Aug. 25, 2001, he married Jennifer Lloyd. He was known for a great sense of humor and would keep friends, co- workers and family members on their toes with his pranks. Vincent D. Roe ’10 passed away on May 6, 2021 at age 38. Vincent was born May 2, 1983 in Geneva, and grew up in Bellona, where he attended Penn Yan Academy and later graduated from FLCC with an A.A.S. in fisheries technology. His first love was the outdoors; with no use for an actual calendar, he measured the year by which hunting or fishing season was open. After a season had closed, Vincent would spend time telling hunting and fishing stories from seasons’ past. William “Bill” L. White passed away on Oct. 17, 2020 at age 63. Bill was employed at FLCC for over 20 years in the multi-media department as an education specialist. He was honored with a SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Professional Service in 2014. Those who came to know Bill relied on his expertise to solve problems, and his calm, laid-back demeanor helped keep his colleagues grounded. FLCC has created a scholarship in Bill’s memory.
